Sometimes you have peaceful travels, sometimes things break, and THEN sometimes you have travels that will haunt you for days! This was certainly a memorable experience as we traveled through the Nevada and Utah desert and found MORE than we bargained for!
Stuff We Used
Hovsco Scooter- This thing was fun to try out on our excursions. This did help a bit when we were unsure of a road – just pop this out and take it for a ride to check out potential camp spots.

Where We Stayed⛺🗺️📌
Hickison Petroglyph Rec Area (Austin, NV) (iOverlander)
The hike just off the campground had limited Petroglyphs but had some amazing views. And this is a perfect place to stay the night. Well-maintained free campground. There is a restroom there, picnic tables, and even trash receptacles. Pretty posh for a free campground.
Sevier Lake – (Millard County, UT) (iOverlander)
Great boondocking spot with view of mountains in the distance. You’re on a large flat, so winds could be an issue. Beautiful and peaceful. The roads are a little washboard, but still easy to get to.
Nebo Scenic Loop Dispersed Campsite (Juab County, UT)(iOverlander)
The road getting to this campsite is not very wide. There are pull-offs periodically to pass an oncoming car, but it’s tight. Some minor tree branches for our 11’6″ truck camper, but nothing too bad.
There are a few spots on the road where it’s washed out, so duallies have to pay particular attention. But it’s doable. This is a wide campsite on the side of the road. Firepit. There’s a creek behind the campsite and a hiking trail that follows the creek for several miles. This is a full-sun site so solar panels will work well.
Where We Ate 🍽️🍔
Middlegate Station (Fallon, NV)
Out in the middle of nowhere, but you can get a burger, beer, and even charge your EV! There’s a campground here but we chose to find another location down the road. Good hole-in-the-wall place to visit.
