In this episode we share a typical challenge when traveling full-time: figuring out a “Plan B” on the fly. But we have a bit more excitement coming our way than we would EVER want – from a strange encounter when staying overnight near Skinwalker Ranch to a narrowly averted serious vehicle accident. I think we can have a little less excitement next time, thank you.
Where We Stayed⛺🗺️📌
Nebo Scenic Loop Dispersed Campsite (Juab County, UT)(iOverlander)
The road getting to this campsite is not very wide. There are pull-offs periodically to pass an oncoming car, but it’s tight. Some minor tree branches for our 11’6″ truck camper, but nothing too bad.
There are a few spots on the road where it’s washed out, so duallies have to pay particular attention. But it’s doable. This is a wide campsite on the side of the road. Firepit. There’s a creek behind the campsite and a hiking trail that follows the creek for several miles. This is a full-sun site so solar panels will work well.
UFO Valley Campground (iOverlander)
As close as you can legally get to Skinwalker Ranch. Small private campground. Dry camping, but they do have a small dump station. Each campsite has a picnic table and a firepit along with trash receptacles.
We stayed there for $40 a night, right by the “infamous” mesa. They also have ATV tours of the mesa for additional fees. I originally thought it was pretty expensive for a no-hookup campsite but very glad we chose to stay. And will definitely stay again.
Weird stuff happens, and even happened to us and we just stayed 2 nights. You do need to reserve online. Limited to no cell service, so be prepared.
Also, sites are not long – check per site for the max length. We’re in a 25′ truck camper and there were a few sites we would have struggled to get into. But totally worth the experience.
