Our trip to Door County was simply too short. We were there for 7 days, and we could have easily stayed another week or two. I cannot believe I’ve lived in the Midwest for most of my life, and this is the FIRST time I had been to Door County. Needless to say, we will certainly go back.
Cave Point County Park is an absolute must see. Of the entire trip, I can without a doubt say this this was the highlight of the week. Even if you’re not a hiking type, the bluffs here are very close to the parking. And it is an absolutely beautiful view!
Although you can easily see beautiful cliffs just footsteps away from your car, you also have the opportunity to go further and really immerse yourself.
I was mesmerized by the deep and almost ground shaking sounds of the water crashing into the rocks as I sat there. It humbles you to see the sheer power of the waves coming up the rock shelf where you sit and realize that this has been happening for millions of years to bring us this level of beauty, and practically in our back yard.
Sometimes you need this connection to nature to put your normal day-to-day frustrations in perspective.
We sat on these ledges for several hours until we didn’t have enough light to stay. I would have gladly stayed longer but then again, I wanted to stay on the land and not fall off the cliffs!
If you have not been to Cave Point County Park or Door County, make sure to add this to your bucket list!
