As we finish up our time in Illinois, we end up (as typical) hitting some snow and very cold nights. The video does a great job to see how we fared (I’d give ourselves a solid C).. π
I don’t know why I was thinking it would be different again. For our truck OR for our winter weather challenges. But being full-time sure keeps you on your (frozen) toes! Ha!
If you’re interested in learning more about our oil change situation or the warranty items we fixed on our Ram 5500, make sure to watch episode 99.
Stuff we bought: π»π
Aqua Tank 2 – We used this for the first time in this video and it worked surprisingly well! We bought this as a backup plan for water storage. The video goes into greater detail on how we hooked our spare water pump to get the water into our tank
RV Digest It Holding Tank Treatment – I used this last summer when we had some major grime in our gray tank. So much so that even our SeeLevel gauges weren’t reading properly! I tried this for 3-4 dumps and our gauges started reading again! The other bonus is that this is formaldehyde-free which is much better for campground septic systems. The main problem I had was where to store this. We kept the Happy Camper powder underneath our sink, but that wouldn’t work. Having 3 bottles to lug around was also a bit annoying and was a lot of packaging. I see now that they have a 1-gallon version which wouldn’t be bad – I could store that in the shower and it would last us probably a year. Not too bad!
Happy Camper RV Holding Tank Treatment – I had used this for several years without much problem and it seemed to do the job fairly well. I then started looking for alternative treatments that didn’t include formaldehyde. I went back to this but this time I think something must have changed. I poured this into our toilet then filled up the bowl and it went down in thin sheets (before I could stop it). I tried again in the gallon jug and the same thing – this turned into very hard chunks. Not sure why things suddenly changed beyond the temp. But their website says it’s not impacted by extreme heat or cold. Weird. Going back to using the RV Digest It liquid.
