If you’re camping in colder weather, you may have some challenges in trying to flush your tanks at dump stations that don’t have any water to flush your tanks. We’ll show you what we do! And, of course, nothing goes smoothly on move day. Gary also works on trying to fix a problem we ran into with our new diesel heater and we’ll talk about the latest challenge since our water damage fix.
STUFF WE BOUGHT 💰🤑
RV Digest It – We bought this last summer when our gray tank sensors were not working well (even on the SeeLevel). After discussing with SeeLevel, it was likely that we had some coating on the tank that was interfering with the sensors. We used this stuff for about 3 dumps and it started working again!
The chemical has a light minty smell and you didn’t have to use a ton for it to work. But I didn’t really like carrying a liquid around with me. We bought this 3-pack and just didn’t have a good place for it.
I love that this does not contain formaldehyde or bronopol and did a fabulous job un-coating my gray tank. This also removes the concern with the Happy Camper granules caking up in the tanks and not doing anything (see episode 102). – Note: the gallon jug fits nicely behind the toilet and I don’t have to worry about it moving around – bonus!
Torklift Camper Stand – We used this stand when we were working on the camper prior to going full-time. It was sitting for 3 months while we updated the batteries, inverter, solar, etc. while we were working. These were great but heavy (but guess they have to be to handle these kind of rigs).
We don’t take this with us (not enough room) but we do leave these at Gary’s parents house since that’s where we tend to do most of our regular maintenance. These are really good – we were living in the camper while working on the jacks this past visit.
Small (500W) Inverter – I have this currently located on my fireplace mantle near our 12V outlet. This has come in handy when we are boondocking and I want to both use my laptop and conserve energy. I will keep my main Victron inverter OFF and use this small one just to power the laptop. It uses less amperage to keep me running. It’s a small amount but if we’re boondocking for more than a few days, that extra efficiency can add up!
