We’re definitely in need of some fixes on our truck and camper. Luckily we’re heading to Penpac RV in Redmond, Oregon! We’re unexpectedly working on our diesel heater on the way, and then after making it to Penpac RV, we can finally tackle that pesky dually leak.

Where We Stayed⛺🗺️📌
Thousand Trails Campgrounds
While we didn’t stay at a Thousand Trails campground this trip, we have stayed at several this year so far. Depending on your style of travel, it may be cost effective to have a Thousand Trails membership. We’ve had one for 3 years right now, and used them sporadically.
However, being in California allowed us to hit several and we ended up buying a larger package. We did this mainly because we do travel full-time.
If you are on the road a bit, it may be helpful to check the Annual pass out. It gives you an idea of what Thousand Trails is without getting in pretty deep. For the past 3 years, we had the annual camping pass in the southeast section. We added the northwest last year and then replaced with the southwest in 2024 before we decided to go to the next level.
We’re still new on the Thousand Trails full memberships, so we won’t discuss that for awhile (much larger commitment but hoping it works out for us).

Indian Well Campground (Tulelake, CA) – (Roadtrippers) (iOverlander)
NPS campground $10/night. Trash and water in season (not when we visited). A great place to see all of the caves at the Lava Beds National Monument. It was pretty gloomy when we went, but ABSOLUTELY worth it!
Penpac RV (Redmond, OR) – (Google)
While not really a campground, the owner (Dan Penington) does allow people to stay in their campers while Penpac is fixing your rig. We saw last year several folks from the Truck Camper Rally come here.
If you have a truck camper OR have fiberglass repair needs, Penpac is the place to go. It’s not pretty but they get the job done and at a fair price.
Gary ended up fixing our dually leak at Penpac when we were able to get the camper off the truck. If you have duallies, these crossfire systems are great to have – they allow you to inflate your inner dually from the outside AND give you a great quick visual on tire pressure as you’re doing your daily walk-around. We highly recommend these.
Our Ram5500 states on the door jamb that we should have our tires inflated to approx 95psi. We originally had a 100psi version (due to covid supply chain problems), so we decided this was a great time to replace them as well.
If you want to purchase a Crossfire system, you can get them on our Amazon page! Or click on the pic to the left for the 95 psi Crossfire – remember you’ll need to purchase 2 (one for each set of duallies). Amazon also has other common pressures if this rating doesn’t match your vehicle.
And, if you watched the video, Gary talked about a different Crossfire option where there were additional valves where you could use external TPMS sensors. Unfortunately, that’s not available on Amazon, but we found one at Truckparts world online.
Want to know what jack Gary was using? Well here it is! It’s beefy and probably overkill, but when you need it, it’s FABULOUS.
