Here’s our method of insulating our 2018 Host Cascade Truck Camper RV. This is an alternate option to Reflectix Insulation for RVs to keep you RV warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
R-Matte 1/2″ insulation –
Is it necessary? No, not really. But my thought was any additional insulation can’t hurt anything and might allow us to reduce our consumption of energy when running the heater or the air conditioner.
Although I don’t have a ton of data to compare, the camper does seem to hold its temp better than I recall before the insulation. I personally thought it was worth the effort even if it just slightly reduces my propane consumption during the winter.
Unfaced Insulation – While we didn’t mention this in the video, we did use it later to insulate our refrigerator in this video. This would also be great in harder-to-reach areas. We purchased this in our local harware store.
Reflectix Roll – We used this heavily in the basement of our camper when the rigid foam was a bit too cumbersome. This works great in awkward areas since it’s so easy to cut. We also used this later on to make insulated window covers.
