Rockpals Power Washer
Well, we we trying to figure out a way to wash our rig with a small amount of water but still get the job done well. We purchased this Rockpals Power Washer on Amazon to see if it could do the trick. We did have our boat and our camper (we took our truck into a local car wash since it could fit).
This is *NOT* a power washer than can be hooked up to a spigot. This has a small hose that goes to a bucket which has the water. It could also go into a lake if you just wanted to wash off your boat (no soap, of course) to get some of those streak lines. We actually did this when our boat was in the water in the UP!
Now, if you still have a sticks and bricks home, this would not make a lot of sense. You’ll get a lot more power with a standard power washer. But that’s not what this is for – this is a more portable option when you’re on long trips or full-timing and you’re not able to find Blue Beacon or other options where you’re at.
We use a little over 1 battery to get the camper done reasonably well. We’ve used it probably 2-3 times in one summer/fall season for our camper and probably about that many times for our boat. We also used it to help another camper sell their boat (a little cleaning goes a long way).
This type of system will not be the best solution if you have heavy accumulation of dirt/grime/mold. This is really more to maintain a clean rig. You’ll likely have to bring out the big guns for a heavier more detailed cleaning job.
That being said, we’re quite happy with the purchase and continue to store in our truck as we’re travelling. Just make sure to check with your campgrounds if you’re allowed to do this on site (we learned many do not allow this).
Comlara Park
Comlara Park is a great option if you’re heading through central Illinois and need a place to camp overnight or stay a few days more. They are open Year Round which is a big deal if you’re trying to find electrical sites during the winter months in the midwest. Not very easy.
The camp is located on beautiful Evergreen Lake and it’s common to see many folks from the area on the lake. Note though that there’s a fairly hefty fee for *anyone* trying to put anything on the water. See the link to register your watercraft (even floaties!)

There is a great Interactive Map online of the park, showing hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Check it out:
